Auto pause in hiking activity

If I enable auto pause with the When stopped setting in my hike activity, how does the device determine that I am not moving ? (Knowing that even standing still, my position changes from gps drift) .

also, it does happen that when moving again, the device does not automaticLly resume recording for a while (several km)

lastly, why is it that we cannot set the minimum speed below 1.6 km/h when setting auto pause to Custom. When snowshoeing in deep snow, speed is sometimes very low.

I only use auto pause for sports/activity such as cycling. One is just moving too slowly I found. Hiking for example, and even trail running, if stepping over obstacles. and on switchback turns would always pause and re-start (and with delay as gps locks). For running and hiking I just pause manually if stopping to talk or look at a map. Regardless of what you do you still have a listing for moving time and elapsed time.

Thanks for replying. About moving time, how does the device determine the time you are moving and the time you are not you moviing slowly is considered stopped time. I would assume moving time is underestimated which would make moving speed overestimated. You are right, overall time is always good and with overall distance you get a reliable overall speed, inlcuding stopped time.

Indeed, I saw that one too. I mean the auto-pause is a perfect feature, but as rdeletoile already said, it is not working correctly when moving slow. Or that it works until a pause and does not restart again when the move in the horizontal line is slow. I saw this too in hiking as well as trail running mode. In very steep terrain or the underground is difficult to go, then the activity pauses. I cannot understand why this happens, as there are still steps recorded or the altitude goes up (even if there is only very little move in the horizontal line).

I would say there are enough sensors integrated to determine if the activity is still ongoing or not. Hopefully there will be an update which fixes this issue.
