Fenix 5 change golf units to yards

I have a fenix 5.  Within Garmin Connect and Garmin golf, all my stats are in yards, but when I look at the distances while on the course, they are in meters.  I tried to change them under the system menu, but golf units are not there.  How do I change the golf units to yards?

  • This has always been in the app but has never had effect in the watch.

I hope it’s gonna be from now on

  • 14.72 is a Beta version of the firmware that is available for download and testing.

Hi - you send me the beta files to upload a while back and that went smoothly and it all looked good with metres/kilometres for my MTB and yards for golf but the watch looks to have reverted to metres for golf, unfortunately. Have I done something wrong? Grateful gro more advice if you have time. Best. Ben

I’ve had this problem with my Fenix 5 for a long time and I still do. In the Connect app you can go to the “More” button at the bottom of the screen, select “Settings” then “User Settings” and then scroll down to “Golf distance units” and change it to yards, while you leave the default “Unit of Measure” (right above) at Metric. Unfortunately this doesn’t work, so your only have the choice of changing the default Unit of Measure to “Statute” prior to starting the round of golf, and then changing it back to metric after the round. I was thinking about buying the new Marq Golfer but certainly won’t be doing so until Garmin can make something as simple as this work for golf. I’m running Version 4.33.0.21 of Garmin Connect on iOS and Version 20.00 on the Fenix 5.

Agree.  It is an easy conversion (+10% to get yards) but a signal on the watch that it is measuring in metres or yards would really help.  I play infrequently enough to forget, and then wonder if I am ageing prematurely as I am 10% short on the first 3 greens.  Please put 'm' or 'y' on the watch display to help my small brain compute - golf's hard enough as it is.
