Is Titanium worth it?

Actually looking to buy a Fenix 6 but thought I'd ask owners of the F5/plus Titanium - was it worth it? Does the Titanium last better than the standard watch, does it resist scuffs better etc?

Thanks in advance!

  • This is more about taste and everyone's opinion: In my view main advantage is it is lighter and for some folks also nicer than normal stainless steel watch. What I have read it is not less scuffs resistant (the same or worse). Difference in weight is 12 grams, as the main body is polymer anyway so in my view it makes only sense when you like metal band, there the weight difference can be a key, if you speak about watch itself I do not think it is significant.

  • Ttanium scratches very easy because it is covered with a thin layer of oxide that is not as resistant. The scratches are very superficial compared with the scratches on steel but do look worse than on steel. this is the reason for titanium is usually covered in  protection layer that might be transparent laquer or a PVD coating or DLC (listed in order of hardness). A good DLC coating is very scratch resistant.
