I have the same if I don’t eject my watch properly from my macbook.
Garmin insists it’s a hardware problem with my watch and denies others have the same problem.
Meanwhile I know more people…

(Files starting with a dot are hidden files on unix based systems. Nothing odd about that.)
You said you never heard from the freezing problem before. Wel, you could have:
When you unplug immediately press the down button ten times. It will prevent the lockup.

Meanwhile I know more people experience this behaviour and I do think it’s a software problem where it doesn’t handle unplugs without ejects properly. At least it should not freeze in this situation
I personally haven't heard of that before, but I do know when you do not eject anything from a Mac that can cause random issues. On some of the Handhelds, I have seen random files being created in hidden folders and corruption at times of files that were transferred. You might want to look into that, see if there any hidden files or folders (they normally start with a period oddly). Also, delete your device.XML file since that file can be edited with each sync or file transfer like maps and could have gotten corrupted with incorrect getting removed from the Mac. (Note: When you delete the file on a Mac, empty your trash and eject the device.) After the device is unplugged safely, allow it to turn on so it will rebuild your XML file.
If does freeze up again, try those steps again but add TrippyZ tip.

I also reported it to the dutch garmin support.
The problem happens when I’m not syncing. So no change if corrupt files. Also, after a hard reboot of the watch everything works fine. So there are no corrupt files.
Please look into the problem and fix the softwarebug! A device should not freeze when not ejected properly. Period.
The same problem here. So, I am tried hard(factory) reset a watch, but this was not help - the watch started beeping through reset process, but without start again, so I only can see blinking logo. Any suggestin how to start a watch again?
