HR From Strap outside of activity

Bug submission. If you finish an activity and are on the summary screen HR is still taken from the HR strap. But if you have removed the HR strap it reports HR of 250+

Steps to reproduce:
1) Start a strength activity (not tested with gps enabled activity) while wearing HR strap.
2) Stop activity and select save, but leave the summary on screen.
3) Remove HR strap.
4) Leave activity summary on watch screen.
5) After a period of time the summary screen clears itself, observe in app that all day HR has been take from strap and not wrist based HR.

  • It's not a bug. When you remove the strap after an activity it interfere with moisture and pick up some noise which is interpreted as high bpm (if it is within ant+ range with your watch).

Just go to the sensor settings and disconnect the strap after you save the activity.

    It's not that hard.

  • I think you missed the point, once you close the summary HR is then taken from wrist sensor. The bug is that this should happen once this activity ends (I.e when you save it, at that point it can’t be restarted).

This has been going on for years across several of Garmin's devices.  If you were using a strap and if the strap is still in range, regardless if the summary page clears, it's still trying to make a connection to the strap and you'll get those crazy high numbers.  Select save and done and the watch will "let go" of the strap connection.
