5X won’t render world map fully zoomed out.

Hello All,

i am having an issue I think, unless it’s part of a recent update or something.

So some context to what I’m trying to do. Sometimes I might just feel fidgety /mans want something to do, other times I legitimately want to look up some nearby places from my watch in another state. For example, while in Nevada, I might want to use navigation app within the fenix 5x watch and find a spot in Texas where I’m from and mark some places on the watch there or in general just play with it.

The trouble is, I can’t zoom out and see a rendered outline of continental Us Canada and Mexico like I was able to when I bought it in 2017.

Here’s what I know.

A couple weeks ago the wife and I went to Yosemite. I, during the drive there, was feeling fidgety so I played with my watch and tried to mark Yosemite on the map just for fun. did it fine. then I tried to start a navigation to Yosemite from my then current location, boop beep boop... that’s odd, it doesn’t want to give me turn by turn directions, after countless different things I tried nothing worked I realized this watch might not be made for this...???

so after getting back home I plugged it into Garmin express and noticed a bunch of map updates. Started to update it then I found out the watch was low on ROM. I had sometimes like 4gb. so I dragged and dropped all existing files at the time from the watch onto the desk top just as a back up, then I deleted all existing files in the watch. Then I went into the watch and set it to default. Then my watch had about 14gb free. Good to go. So I, plugged it back into express and updated everything.

that was the full background.

now, I can’t see the world map.  I can see stuff up close around me but once z zoom out to about... let me check... to where it says [_8mi_] that’s as far out as it will render.

so I’m confused, I’m not a programmer but my intuition tells me that it might be missing some layers of map data or something.

any suggestions or mad knowledge somebody want to share to get me back up and running?
