Yikes...help...after swimming watch won't charge

Took a swim...snorkeling at surface. Now, watch will not charge. Plug it in...nothing happens. Watch appears to be working in most ways that i can determine. All the buttons work, screens change, activity history comes up, etc. The watch syncs with Connect on my phone. Wrist HR seems to be working. BUT one other irregularity i noticed that started at same time after swimming is that for every nights sleep (since the swimming), watch says "advanced sleep was not monitored" and 0 time is shown for REM sleep (although light, deep, and awake seem to be displayed reasonably).

Yikes...any suggestions...what can i do. Now down to 53% battery so won't be able to use much longer if i can't get it to charge.

How do the little pins on the back of the watch look? Have you got something stuck in the charger?

I agree with TrippyZ

Make sure the charge port is clean and dry, and that nothing is trapped in the cable end either.

I'd also perhaps suggest a soft reset of the watch.

Thanks! I did read somewhere to clean with rubbing alcohol, and so that along with reset...it charged this morning so i hope it keeps doing so. It makes me hesitant to use for swimming again, tho it is supposed to be fine for that. Do most people have the experience that its fine to swim with Fenix 5, no charging or other issues are caused. Thanks!

Also, check the pins in the watch-end of the charging cable. Make sure they spring out. Older cables can get clogged up and some pins lose their springiness. This can be fixed by cleaning with soapy water or alcohol and poking at them with a toothpick or similar.

I've had multiple instances where charging worked but connecting to PC didn't or visa-versa or nothing worked and they were all caused by this 'stuck pins in cable' problem.

Eventually I just had to get a new charging cable. Amazon sell them from a couple of suppliers. Not very expensive.
