Notification issue on new 5 possibly?

So with my 3hr anytime I would get a notiification and my watch would vibrate.

For some reason, no matter what I do I cant get the 5 to vibrate on a notification, am I missing something?

I went through settings a couple times.
  • Not on mine... I've done several syncs this AM testing this and mine has stayed on and working through at least 6 BT syncs. I did like 4 BT syncs from the watch and 2 from inside the GC App.. The vibration stays toggled on and working. As soon as I connect to PC and sync it's turned off in Settings --> System --> Sounds

Edit to add: I am on Android so maybe the BT disabling of it is caused by iOS?

Mine is staying set as well through syncs.

For what it's worth this is a bug in Garmin's connect app. I had the exact same issue with my vivsomart HR+ except the setting in question was the backlight gesture control. After a sync sometimes the backlight gesture control would get turned off. The problem is related to their system on which is the 'master' when it comes to the settings. It's a convoluted system they have where you can set the setting on the device itself, on the website, or in the mobile app.

I think whether you are affected or not may have to do with what you had it set to when you first synced the device to their cloud. I am pretty sure I turned on vibrate before I did my first sync.

I may factory reset and set it up then sync it. I will report back. Are you also on IOS or ANDROID?

Well a factory reset and then totally setup the watch to include VIBRATION in the sounds menu and turning vibration on in the notification. Then synced to phone and then tested and no vibration. Head into sound and it was off. UGH

Hopefully Garmin will correct this soon. I rely on the vibration for notifications
  • Don't do a full reset

I wouldn't do that just yet. I am on iOS and I unpaired through the phone settings, made sure vibration was turned on in the watch sound settings, then repaired through the GC app. I did multiple syncs and the vibration has remained on. Hopefully this is a permanent fix.

Well I tried this as well. As soon as it resyncs the vibration turns off right away. Strange.

Maybe the Garmin app version is different or IOS version

Sorry, it worked for me. At least it has so far.

Well, actually I just got a couple texts and they came through, but no vibration. I checked the settings on the watch and it was turned off again. It did work for a while though. I'm done messing with it for now and will wait to see if there a software fix from Garmin.
  • Mine had the same issue but I narrowed the problem down to the settings. Somehow vibration got turned off.. Not in the phone notification setting as it was turned on there but it was turned off in Settings ---> Sounds ---> Vibration

After toggling that back on, it's working again. Not sure how it got turned off unless I did so by mistake when playing around with the watch..

Thanks for the tip, works perfectly now! I do wish you could make the vibration last longer though like you could on the VAHR.
  • This problem occurred during the early stages of F3HR life cycle I recall as well and needed to be corrected by Garmin, so you guys need to let them know of this fault so hopefully it will be fixed before my F5 arrives :)
