So with my 3hr anytime I would get a notiification and my watch would vibrate.

For some reason, no matter what I do I cant get the 5 to vibrate on a notification, am I missing something?

I went through settings a couple times.

Sure enough after I plugged it into my pc and did a sync the vibration on notification stopped working.

Had to go into system and sounds and turn vibration back on to get it to work again

    Strange bug

Do you have the problem if you sync via Bluetooth?

DO you mean using the app? No not at all. Only when I plug into the PC and sync that way. Tried it a couple times this morning and via the PC definately turns the vibration off in sounds settings even though the notification settings still stay the same.
  • Same here.. BT sync does not change the setting but a PC sync does. Not to worried about it as my 3 and 3HR hardly ever got plugged into PC...

Just a random thought, but perhaps disabling vibration is deliberate to stop multiple vibrations unseating the cable - the bug is they forgot to re enable it.

Mine turns off the vibration setting on the watch if I sync via Bluetooth. I'm using the iOS GC app. Settings are on for vibration within the app and on the watch. Once I sync with the app, the vibration setting on the watch goes off, but stays on in the app. Strange.

Damn it you are right. Any syncing causes the vibration to go off in sound settings. Cripes

    I swore I tested it

SO basically setting up notifications to vibrate works until you sync, Then once you sync via PC or Bluetooth the vibration is turned off in the sounds menu on the watch but remains on in the notifications and on the app itself.

Any idea how we report this to Garmin?

Not on mine... I've done several syncs this AM testing this and mine has stayed on and working through at least 6 BT syncs. I did like 4 BT syncs from the watch and 2 from inside the GC App.. The vibration stays toggled on and working. As soon as I connect to PC and sync it's turned off in Settings --> System --> Sounds

Edit to add: I am on Android so maybe the BT disabling of it is caused by iOS?
  • Garmin should consider a bounty program for bugs like some software companies have. Find and document a bug, and they send you a wrist strap or something like that. Garmin saves money on something like this just in the reduction in tech support inquiries they receive. Indirectly there's goodwill involved. When mine arrives and has this problem, I won't get annoyed and spend time trying to figure it out and cursing the inadequate testing done at Garmin.

But then Garmin would go bancrupt very fast. 😀
