Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install a beta version of the firmware (v12.21) on my fenix5 to try to remedy the battery problems.
I followed the instructions on the garmin website but after disconnecting my watch it does not proceed with the update.
Where am I wrong? I have set up an automatic update but even so it doesn't work.
tips?
thank you

    hi @briviopc,

    latest beta is 13.23

when your current firmware is higher than 12.21, you have to install the backdate version first and then 12.21

when your watch is an APAC version then you can not install beta firmwares because these are only ROW device beta firmwares

check on your device in file garmindevice.xml following line

for F5 ROW it should contain this line <Model><PartNumber>006-B2697-00</PartNumber>

    hi @OnlyTwo
n my device the file garmindevice.xml I found the following info:
    -<Model>
    <PartNumber>006-B2697-00</PartNumber>
    <SoftwareVersion>1300</SoftwareVersion>
    <Description>fenix 5</Description>
    </Model>

so from what you wrote it would be a ROW model.
I have all the old firrmware, both beta and original.
therefore I must first install the backdate version (eg 12.50 then 12.40 etc.) and then the beta.
    quite right?
    thank you

    you are right ;)

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

you really want 12.21 and not 13.23
why not try 13.23 first ?

    here you go....
you need the beta zip with 12.21
install the backdate 12.00 version from 12.21 zip
    install 12.21
    done :)

or if I really did misunderstood you....
start over and explain again what you want :o

    Hello
and that 13.23 I don't know if it has problems with battery drain.
the 12 I didn't have a drastic drop of the battery (about 0.2 / 0.3% at the time while with the 13 we are at 1 / 1.5% at the hour.)
I can try putting 13.23 and let's see how it goes
    thank you

    hello @OnlyTwo
today I tried to install fw 13.23 and it's ok.
now I will test it for the next few days.
I see how it goes, otherwise I go back to 12.23 or even to version 12.
    thanks for your help

    hi @OnlyTwo
after trying fw 13.23 and after about 4 hours the battery has dropped by about 4/5%. Then I put fw 12 and then switch to fw 12.21.
but due to work commitments I had to interrupt the procedure and was left with the fw 12.
well after 24 hours the betteria has dropped by 2%.
    I guess I stay at fw12.
    thank you all

happy for you it works on 12.00
