Can we expect some new features on Fenix 5?

Hi there,

How do you think - can we expect some new features that have appeared recently on new Forerunner watches on Fenix5?
I mean Load Focus or crash detect?

  • Can we expect them? Of course! Always hope for the best! But is it probable? I doubt it. Fenix 5 family have a number of long-term problems and if Garmin really wanted to spend resources on improving that generation, they would be fixing things people complain about rather than implement new features that will not bring them money anyway (at least directly).

On the other hand, if they add any of those new features to the 5+ family, that might get some people to upgrade now rather than wait for a new Fenix model.
  • Some of those new features have licensing fees and are unlikely to be added. We did get the unexpected addition of Galileo which I was very pleased about. My Fenix 5 has been great the year I have owned it and been accurate and problem free.

After the fenix 5 release (maybe 5 months later??) the added all-day stress tracking https://www.firstbeat.com/en/news/day-stress-tracking-added-garmin-fenix-5-series-forerunner-935/ [h=1][/h]
  • It has now been more than two years since the release of the 5/5S/5X. The chances of big new features is low but the firmware updates still seem regular.

I know others had had their issues but I've had my F5 since release and I've had no real issues with it. There has been loads of functionality added along the way. With mine. battery life is still solid and cosmetically it is holding up really well. I've been more than happy with it.

Only now I'm starting to eye the newer 5 Plus or 945...

I'm in the same boat as you. Been really enjoying the Fenix 5 and appreciate all the additional features by way of firmware updates. That being said, when Fenix 6 comes out I'll probably pick one up.
