5S or 5S+

Hi

I am tossing up between the 5S or the 5S+.

Those that have a 5S, why did you decide on the 5S instead of the 5S+.

What are the positive and negatives of the 5S.

There are gym inbuilt applications on the 5S+ that are not available on the 5S, I was wondering how easy it is to add in those exercises on the 5S for example: yoga and Elliptical Training.

Thank you!
  • Hi,

For me Fenix 5S is great and I love it, only a few adds on the 5S plus.
    Just my thoughts:
    - I don't need the maps (on a such small screen, not really of any interest to me). If you want maps, probably go for a larger screen, 42mm is very small.
    - never use music when running so no need of this option
    - Garmin Pay not available for my bank yet
    - lower memory but works very well with my Stryd and HRM so I am happy with the 5S.
and last but not least better battery life (for me ~ 8 days) with the 5S.

So if one of these options is really a must have for you, you need to go with 5S plus, otherwise, 5S is very good and much cheaper now !
    Hope that helps.

  • 5S is superseded by 5S+ and so is cheaper. That is reason enough.

    I also baught a 5S, NOT 5S+, because:
    - price ("only" 350€ instead of >500€)
    - at least 9 days battery (of cause without GPS) insted of about 5
    - maps, music and Garmin Pay are good functions on 5S+, but I think I don't need them very often - and it makes no sense to pay much more money for that...
  • Hi,

If you want maps, probably go for a larger screen, 42mm is very small.

    Just to avoid any confusion:

5S+ has the same 1,2"/240x240px screen as the 5/5+ and the 5X/5X+, so usability of maps are the exact same on all of them. 5S is the only one that has the smaller 1,1"/218x218px screen.
42(/47/51) mm is the external size of the watch casing.
