Fenix 5 Watchface Original

I have a question: why does Garmin not put in its original Wachtface the measurement of the pulse on its display.
Possibly the answer will be: because it is a lot of charge for the battery. Then why all the other developers have it, and they work very well.
Thank you very much. ;)
  • More frequent screen updates do use more battery. Garmin's developers have put a premium on preserving battery life, so the stock watch faces don't have fields with 1s updates (eg. steps will update only every 60s).

Yes, many custom watch faces include more frequently updating fields (and the battery life penalty that comes with that). But installing a custom watch face is a deliberate choice, and if you want that HR information, there are many custom watch faces that you can install. I think Garmin's developers have made the right choice for the DEFAULT settings, which many consumers will just stick with.

Personally, I have the HR widget as the first widget in the widget loop, so if I want to know my HR, it is just 1 button press.
  • Their battery predictions are based on standard watchface. They would have to reduce them if they shipped a more sophisticated watch face as standard. I have zero interest in seeing HR outside of an activity.
