I have owned a fenix 5S for about a year now, which I use around the clock. One of my goals is to do at least 10000 steps every day in addition to other activities. Unfortunately the fenix loses already counted steps when the connected phone has to be restarted. The whole thing happens as follows: Suppose I've already gone 2000 steps in one day and for some reason I need to restart my smartphone, which has the connect app that connects the phone to the watch. When I look at the connect app, I also see the 2000 steps that have already been counted. If I now restart the phone without first running the synchronization completely, then in most cases after restarting the phone and the subsequent automatic reconnection of the phone to the clock, the step number on the watch is reset. A short while later the steps are also gone at the connect app.
Why is this the case? From my point of view the watch should be the master and not the phone, under no circumstances should already counted steps be set to zero without a confirmation prompt. Astonishingly enough, in many cases you can still see in the bar chart in the connect app that more steps should actually be counted on this day, because the bar for the above mentioned 2000 steps is still there. So if you would add the bars together, you would have 2000 steps more than the watch is displaying directly in this case.
Support is only linking me to the FAQ for not accurately counting steps (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?fa...jl8ZEZey72gg98), but this doesnt help.
Anyone here with a practical hint to solve this issue?
kind regards, Jens
