Fenix 5 LTHR - Why is BPM reducing significantly as my fitness increases?

Hi all, I hope someone can provide me some context/explanation for LTHR on the Fenix 5. I am confused as to why my Fenix 5/Firstbeat stats would conclude an apparently lower BMP on my Lactate Threshold, after a 6 month period of dedicated training - also of note my VO2 Max has dropped to 49 vice 52 at previous peak.

Attached shows the apparent decline in my Lactate Threshold HR over 6 months. I ran my first Marathon, 04:06 at the peak of the graph 10/18.

Post my 1st Marathon I took it easy for 2-3 weeks, then resumed training for a half and into my second Marathon, due this weekend.

In the second training period (second half of graph), I witness an apparent month on month reduction in my Threshold Heart Rate from 164 down to 155? I would not expect this - has anyone seen similar?

Any observations/comments gratefully received.

Background detail

Second Marathon training period: significantly (circa +30%) more demanding schedule (50-60km per over 6 runs per week, 80/20 splits of effort, mid week 10k tempo run etc. ) aiming to break the 4hr barrier. In the second period, I've achieved multiple PB's as I would have expected, including at 10k (3 weeks ago) and half marathon distances. I am far fitter than the first period, running 6 times a week versus 3-4, recovery periods far reduced, short runs are now at least 1 hour vice 5-6k previously.

I run with HRM-TRI and note that in Winter I probably ran for 3 weeks or so where the battery was flat - the Fenix 5 did not report - and therefore it used optical HR *without my knowledge*, resulting in a few weeks of very high readings (and how I noticed the error). Typically my max HR 171 was reporting as high as 191. I wonder if this as skewed the FirstBeast stats irrecoverably - however I have run for several months since so the blip should be ignored now right?
