Version 13 crashing in biking

Hi all

Updated from beta 12.85 beta to 13 a couple of days ago, as usual did a soft reset before using

Swimming no problems

Biking that's another matter, every time to I go into 'auto pause' mode the watch crashes and restarts, this happened along all of my 3 hour ride, losing of course most of my data

I then did a hard reset, re-setup the watch and tried another bike ride. Again in auto pause mode, when stopped the watch crashed, and every time.

I turned of the auto pause mode but as soon as I am stationary or moving very slowly the watch crashes and restarts in Resume mode, so it seem to be related to speed or lack of.....

Note that I'm riding mountain bikes but as Garmin doesn't seem to believe that we mountain bike riders or trail runner are allowed to VO2 Max I always ride in 'Bike' mode rather than MTB (same when running , 'run' rather than 'trail')

I have as always my Rhythm 24+ connected to the watch, but basically that's it

I see that there is already a 13.xx beta but they just say its a golf fix, so I'm going to see if I can reinstall the 12.85 beta again

had to reinstall 12.00 firmware, will update this after, if anyone has a link for the 12.85 (Garmin no longer shows it), I would appreciate as no longer have mine, only 12.81 on my computer

I've been on two bike rides in MTB mode the last two days with version 13.00 and have not seen any issues, including when Auto-pause is activated. I'll try regular bike mode for my next ride.

I admit I haven't tried in the MTB mode as I like to update my VO2 max, and sadly as only 'biking' does that....... though it also seem that Version 13 has broken that as well as no updates since I updated it to 13 as well, its stuck at 19/04/2019

Have you tried a hard reset since updating? Press and hold top left button until it powers down

That's a soft reset that was done, a hard reset can be done by the watch in settings / reset that was done as well

I was biking with 13.00 couple of times without any issues. Did not use auto pause though.

Thanks, tried that with no auto pause as well, still crashes once my speed is very slow / stopped (or maybe by GPS movement has stopped)

It seems speed or GPS stopped related

I will try the beta 3.21 that way I can send bug reports as sadly Garmin only accept bug reports en Beta versions

I think that I have solved my problem, which I think was coming from the 12.85 beta to 13.00

1 ) I re-installed Version 12 with a clean setup, ran it for two days

2 ) then I downloaded the version 13.21 beta, this will restart the watch with a 'cleanish' (bit not clean setup) (don't bother pairing phone or anything)

So once booted into 13.21 then do a Clean setup using the following

Hold the power/Light key until the menu appears.
Choose power off.
Press and Hold lap/Back button.
Press the power/Light key
You will get the menu “Clean user data: Yes/No?” release LAP button.
Then choose yes to factory reset the Garmin watch
Garmin watch is hard reset and ready to pair to Garmin Connect again.

This will really clear the watch, so starting like new

tested with a quick ride, no crashes when in pause mode
