Fenix 5X Battery Issues

Hi all,

I have a Fenix 5x and having bad battery life issues. I charged the watch to 100% this morning at 6am, it's now 11:52am and it's down to 88%. I've been having troubles with it previously so I reset it to factory defaults but it doesn't seem to have fixed it.

I've turned off all the wifi and bluetooth etc, and currently I'm only using it as a step counter to see how much battery it will drain and it's quite a lot. I've stopped using the built in types like walk or run so GPS doesn't kick in and I can ensure GPS isn't killing the battery.

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm pretty disappointed a watch that cost me over $1k would have these kinds of issues, and especially only being a few months old.

Watch is entirely up to date with latest software.

I find that excessive battery usage like may be tied to a bluetooth or some other connectivity issue with my phone. I find that bringing the watch closer to my phone or rebooting the watch and phone often solves the issue.

I just purchased a new phone this week and the battery drain was significant. After the phone has started to settle-in my watch as drained 3% in 12 hours.

I usually get around .3 - .5 percent per hour. Around 8 percent per day in pure watch mode. (Around 5% per hour in GPS). I always find the first few percent of a 'full' charge go quickly - though usually dropping to, say, 96 percent then leveling out. Watch is two years old so still quite consistent from new. I have had it where it will drain very quickly after a full charge and got in the habit of restarting it straight after taking it off charge - like a process has got stuck and is sucking up battery.

Try downloading the battery gauge widget and seeing a breakdown of what you are getting.

(PS The built in Move IQ things don't use GPS but the internal sensors to detect those.)

My battery consumption was excellent with version 12.40 but after upgrading to 12.50 version I have unexplained battery drain. Anyone else with this issue?

athanaso77 Can you please update to sw 13.00 when the software is available to you and report back if you keep seeing any issue with your battery life?
