Can't connect Bkool device with Simulator and Fenix 5 at the same time

Hi,

I've been using my Bkool smart pro with Bkool simulator (or Zwift) and my Edge 1000 at the same time with no issues, but I can't do so with my Fenix 5.

A Bkool support guy told me that the cycling trainer can be controlled by just one device but I don't understand how the Fenix is controlling the trainer while the Edge 1000 is not. Is it a feature that can be disabled?

Thanks.
  • The F5 does not support the FE-C protocol required to control trainers, but Edge devices do. The F5 should still pick up power output from the trainer, even if it can't control the resistance.

Thank you, mcalista, that's the thing. Why the F5 can't even detect the trainer if it is already connected to the computer (and viceversa)?
  • One thing that comes to mind is that Bluetooth can only support 1 connection at a time, so if the trainer is connected to the computer then it is not available to anything else over BLE. Edge devices are ANT+ only (which does support multiple connections), but the F5 supports both ANT+ and BLE. I'd suggest deleting the trainer from the watch, then re-adding over ANT+ only (ANT+ should appear as a 6 digit number).

You are right, mcalista. The trainer was connected over BLE. I've done what you suggested but the F5 couldn't find the trainer over ANT+, maybe it needs an FE-C capable device, I don't know.

Anyway, I'm giving up with getting power data on my activities.

    Thanks a lot ;-)
