Is Max HR (during an activity) a field that can be added to an activity?

I assumed this was a field. So, when i went to customize the data screens of an activity, add new field, and then to select the field, under "Heart Rate fields" there is no "Max". Current and average, yes, but Max no. But after an activity the Max HR is reported in Connect. Cannot a field be displayed during the activity with this Max HR? Thanks!
  • What would be the use case for this information?
  • As i'm out skiing, walking, biking, or really anything, i think i'd like to look at (simultaneously, without changing screen), my current HR, my average HR, and my max HR to that point where i am looking at it (all pertaining to the time period of the activity). I currently do this using the "DIY" Connect IQ app, which allows all 3 to be on the face at once. But, i don't need all the complexity of DIY, and so i could envision adding a 3-field face to an activity, with those 3 data fields on display. Garmin allows me to add HR (current) and HRavg as data fields. But, i do not see HRmax offered to be added. It surprised me it wasn't there, so I thought i'd inquire and see if i somehow missed it or its somewhere else. At the end of the activity you do see the HRmax for the activity in Connect. So, my reasoning is "why can't i look at it, ongoing, during the activity; why the need to wait for the end?".

So, did i miss something, or is it "not possible"?

    Thanks!
  • There is very likely a CIQ field available for that. If there isn't someone will write one for you if you post to https://forums.garmin.com/forum/developers/connect-iq/connect-iq-app-ideas
  • Oh well...boo-hoo, no built-in field to be added for "max HR". Only issue with getting a CIQ field is that i have already used 2 in several of the activities that i'd like this in. Guess i'll submit it to Garmin as a suggestion so that it can disappear into the ozone. Thanks for the response, though!
  • The value is available in CIQ, as I display it in some of my device apps (you don't have to calculate anything, just display it). So, doing a DF to display it would be trivial.
If you're already using 2 CIQ DFs, maybe contact the developer for those and see if they'll add it as an option?
