Turn by Turn navigation not automatically showing map anymore

Back in the day (I think until the last update over the past 2 weeks or so), when I was running a course (also in workout mode), every time I had to turn, I got a notification on my 5x and the screen showed the map so I could see which path to take. The notification bit still works, however, my 5x is not showing the map anymore. I have to go to the map screen manually.

Anyone else experiences this problem?
  • Quite a few people are having navigation issues that are apparently related to the 12.40 update. It continued through 12.50 as well. There's a couple of threads about them. Contact Garmin support so that they can record your issue and information.
  • and the screen showed the map so I could see which path to take.

I've used navigation with tbt on my watch since I bought it. Can't remember that I ever seen that the map pop up together with turn warning. I almost always use navigation routing in 'follow course'-mode with activity type 'hiking', but have tested others from time to time.
What app and navigation options have you selected?
  • I use the Running app with follow course mode selected in combination with a workout from my training agenda. I’ve called Garmin here in The Netherlands a couple of times with issues, but they never took the problems (which I find back on this forum) seriously, and therefor never logged any of my issues.
  • i never got this on my watch. there comes a black bar with the direction and how far it is away, but it does not switch to the map page on mine too. use it for running too.
