  • Hi! ist there a possibility update to Released Version (without resetting my watch again?) Earlier when i went to the beta, i could install the newer release because it had a higher version number.
the last released version have been allways under the beta. even if they are newer.
PS: 12.82 didn't made any problems on my watch.
  • Hi, the same question ... I can not install the Released Version 12.5 ... I'm on beta 12.82.
  • Why you people don't read the installation instructions provided by Garmin. It takes just a few seconds to read...
  • kdelios thank you for that hint. i could not find the answer in the instructions. Maybe you can answer my question:
    ok, for short....
on earlier versions (i just take some random numbers) was for example the Released Version 6.4, then there was a Beta with (again for example) 6.77. the next released version was (again for example) 6.9. so when you've installed the BETA and the next release came out. you could have make the update because it had a higher release version without resetting your watch.
now, for example version 12.30 came out. and you installed the BETA with 12.81 or 12.82. the next released Version is 12.50. so NOW you're unable to install this release without resetting your watch.
maybe you know the answer and found it in the instructions. thanks for your help.
    cheers
  • If the release is higher than the beta it'll update the watch. Usually you find beta, release, beta... occasionally it gets out of sync here. A newer beta is already posted but they release a slightly earlier build. Other times the release is higher than the last beta. I usually just wait for next release.. 13.00? Which will update my watch from the 12.82 beta.
  • Haven't look but I'm sure there is a probably just a version file somewhere on the watch that you could update (back version) to trick it to do the update.
  • kdelios thank you for that hint. i could not find the answer in the instructions. Maybe you can answer my question

"If you would like to revert to the last public release software, drop the gupdate.gcd file, found in the System_Backdate_v1200 folder, into the \GARMIN folder of the device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults."

At the zip file exists 12.00 version (per folder name).
Go back to 12.00 and then update to 12.50 (with garmin express or via wifi).
  • ikim1967 thanks, that's a good idea with the file. i'll look if i find such an entry.
@kdelios: thanks and sorry, my english is not the best. i know all the instructions. i just asked, because i wanna know if the release numbers will get in "normal" again. so release -> higher beta -> even higher release. that you can get back to a release again without resetting all of it. like ikim1967 said, if the next release would get an 13.00. everybody with beta on it, will get a possibility to upgrade without resetting it again.
  • Yeah - at some point they'll release a gold build that will surpassed the beta you are on and it'll update your watch. I would just hang on rather than bother trying to get back to 'release' builds. It'll catch up :-)
