leave fenix5 on charger but end "storage mode", return control back to buttons?

I know I can choose "garmin mode" instead of storage when I first plug it in but once you are in storage mode is the only way to end it, to unplug the watch?

I tried all the buttons and even tried in windows the usb "eject" feature but nothing will stop it, not even holding the power/light button

I guess a wishlist is to allow one of the buttons to use a menu mode to disconnect, there is a usb icon, why not allow the third/lower button on the left to end the connection?
  • Briefly unplugging is probably simpler than pressing buttons anyway.

Or just use a USB power supply (eg. wall charger, battery pack), rather than plugging it into a data connection (eg. a laptop).
  • maybe this approach: does any specialty usb driver exist that can access the watch while it is in "garmin mode" rather than regular "mass storage" mode?

under a usb device viewer I can see it connected via grmnusb.sys as USB VID_091E PID_0003

which means it's a MTP device

I think there are MTP drivers for android devices that might let me see the watch as a drive letter, maybe
