fenix 5 - Updated to 12.30. Battery doesn't last 24 hours

Before I updated to 12.30, I would get at least 48 hours of battery life. I updated on Thursday and my battery is draining a lot faster. I reached out to Garmin support and the very first thing they did was make me do a Reset. Since then (about 5 hours), I have only changed the Watch Face and the battery has gone down 20%.

Is there a memory leak or something else in the new update that can be resolved? I'm afraid that if I do a workout, the watch will die before I'm finished and that means the completed workout won't sync and upload to Strava. Doesn't that mean it's a critical issue?

I’m not sure these forums are actively monitored by Garmin. Reading through the posts very few issues get answered by Garmin.

i update to the last firmware (12.30) and the battery drain very fast... tonight while I was sleeping from 80% we went to 4% (all in about 8 hours) with everything turned off ... clock only.
with the firmware 12.00 at least one week lasted with 2/3 activities.
thank goodness that in the release notes say:
    Change History
Changes made from version 12.00 to 12.30:
Display an incorrect sensor error message.
Reported at higher than expected battery drain.
  • Try beta 12.21 - it may work better. At least for me, it works better than the stable 12.30.

I have the same problem, on 12.21 was good first couple of days, after that only problems.. I will go on 12.00 there i had 5 days battery life
  • 12.21 fixed my issues, 12.30 the same. I have no idea whether it has an effect or not, but I always do a reset (hold light button ~10 sec) and power back on when the watch leaves the charger. Just to make sure all processes running are killed, and the watch starts out from fresh. You can do the reset without loosing any settings etc.

    Hello
after removing all the date and widget fields, I made a hard reset and completely loaded my fenix5 and after about 24h without activity are at 90%. We hope well.
as soon as I can, I load my data fields and I try it again.

    How's it running, now?

Also, do you mean the default Date fields or some ConnectIQ data fields and widgets? Also, how do you do a hard reset? Is that the same as erasing all the users settings and data?

    Edited for clarity

    Hello
currently I use only the default data fields and no ConnectIQ data fields and widgets (before I have yet to do some activities that due to bad weather I could not do).
with hard reset you lose all user data and you have to reconfigure it as new.
here is the procedure from the technical support of garmin italy:

ATTENTION: ALL USER DATA WILL BE LOST
When the instrument is off, hold down the start and back / lap buttons on the top and bottom right
Switch the device on by briefly pressing the light button on the top left.
Release start after hearing a first beep, release back / lap after a second beep.
At this point the device will reboot and offer you the choice of language
Once reset, carry out a complete cycle of charging its clock and then test the battery life with normal use.

i find the seme procedure in internet (in italian language with an image) at this site: https://diegocampy.it/2018/07/31/guida-hard-reset-garmin-forerunner-935/
is for the forerunner but i the same for the fenix5.
