As of about 15 minutes ago, my fenix 5 has been showing "update failed, try again" If i click done, it shows the same message again 15 seconds later. The watch is now unusable. Tried rebooting, but the message came back immediately upon restart.
i was getting constant failed update messages even though v12.30 was installed. the above steps stopped the erroneous update messages. thanks!
EDIT: Spoke too soon, error message came back. Worked out that it was a GPS chipset update that was giving me issues. tried the Garmin webupdater instead https://www8.garmin.com/products/web...wtoinstall.jsp which actually highlighted the GPS was out of date. Went through update process, unlpugged and checked watch....still the update failed.
Used the webupdater and reinstalled v12.30 and the GPS chipset.....still getting update failed messages.
My fenix 5 currently has 12.00 software and keeps trying to install 12.30. I get the message: "Update failed. Try again from Garmin Connect". If I click Done, the message comes back and this repeats indefinitely. The watch is unusable until it gives up for the night. In the morning I see the message "Software Updated to 12.30", but when I check in settings, it still shows 12.00.
I'm going to disable auto-updates if I can figure out how. I'm tired of seeing new bugs after software updates and just want to stick with a stable software version. 12.00 seems to work ok for me.

I am on the same condition.. 12:30 and it's stuck there.. I have the GPS stuck at 4:40. (so 4 version behind), unable to update with web updater, it download the 12:40 and it keep telling me that the file is corrupted (tried on 2 PC and a mac with different cables), same for the GPS file.
garmin connect have the same issue, i cannot sync or download any maps, because at first step it says that something went wrong..
I'm desperate.. tried to do an hard reset some days ago.. no luck..
Just started getting this error. No information about the installation that is failing however suggesting I don't have enough memory. Check and my device has plenty spare. Every time I dismiss it is back 5 minutes later on phone and device.
