Hi,
i have a few problems with my fenix 5s and its calculated calorie use..
I came from a forerunner 235, so both have a heart frequency measuring at the wrist.
I used both at the same time to check for differences when tracking activities...
Positive: they show almost the same for running and biking (steady activities)
Negative: not for intervall sports like Badminton or running intervalls. Fenix 5s shows for Badminton. I know all these watches seem to have problems with intervalls but the 235 was closer to what i measured with a chest belt, still not accurate but better.
BUT the biggest difference i get is the active calorie use in my everyday life. What I mean are activitys i do not track like cleaning, just walking, working w/e. Either my fenix 5S shows way too little or my 235 showed way to much. the difference it quite big. My average daily active calorie use is more than 500, rather 1000 lower than before when using the 235 every day...
Do these watches use different algorythm to calculate the active calorie use? On what excatly is it based? Partly on the heart rate?
Both are connected to Garmin connect and i still use both of them, but orginally I wanted to sell my 235 and only use the 5S, but my main sport is Badminton and 5S shows for this :-
Any ideas on this topic?
Maybe there already is a similar topic the pls link to it since Im new here ;)
