I bought my watch at the very end of October. Since that time, the temperature has only been correct once when the activity was synced with Garmin. I train by heart rate and outside temperature is important so I like to have pretty accurate data. The temperature on the watch before the run is correct and the temperature on the watch after is correct and consistent with the temperature on my phone. But for some reason, after syncing, the data in Garmin Connect isn't. It is currently in the low 20s outside and it shows the temperature on my run today was 48-75, temperatures we haven't seen in months.
After troubleshooting for myself, I reached out to Garmin. I was told to take the watch off for 20-30 minutes during a run and then it should read correctly. It didn't. I was told that my body temperature was interfering so I tried wearing it on the outside my clothes, using a heart rate monitor, and it still isn't correct. I've tried wearing it all the time, putting it on right before a run, outside of clothes, under clothes, etc. and it is always reading pretty close to that same range of temperature every time but that is more than 50 degrees higher than it has been most days.
Is the problem the watch, Garmin connect, a setting in my phone? Something else? What can I try before buying the Tempe sensor?
