F5X won't go into mass storage mode

Trying to download a couple of screenshots and update the maps on my F5X but I can't get it to be recognised as a mass device.

I am on OS X High Sierra with all updates on 2 different Macs. I have plugged directly in to the USB ports on the back of my iMac late 2012 and the ports on my Macbook Air late 2012. Neither will see my watch.

I have tried 3 different cables, 1 original and 2 aftermarket.

I have examined the terminals on the back of the watch and they appear free of contamination and corrosion.

The watch asks for "Mass Storage" when plugged in, which I acknowledge "Yes", but never shows in Finder or in the list of USB devices in System Information.

My F5X is on Firmware V12.00 and is the AU version.

The watch charges normally.

Any/all help appreciated.

Edit. Just tried on my wife's iMac 2018 with original cable. No dice. Very frustrating.

2nd Edit. Tried in VMWare Fusion Win10. No dice.

I had a similar issue. The watch is not detected on Mac or Win computers.
In my case, I could charge it but I couldn't connect it as a mass storage.

I contacted with support and they sent me a new watch.

My old one had silver pins, and the new one has golden pins.

Now is working perfect.

Same thing happened to me and Garmin ended up sending me a new watch also. Best thing to do is call them and let them walk you though the troubleshooting process and let them tell you the watch will need to be replaced. Garmin has a rapid return option where they send you a replacement watch first. Only catch is that you pay for the replacement but you get your money back when they get your old watch. I have done a couple times over the years and not had a single problem with the return process.
They may want to send you a new Garmin charge/sync cable first (free of charge) so keep that in mind.

Markus my watch has gold pins and is relatively new. Replaced recently due to crack in the HRM window.
