Thanks, that's what I thought. It's a pretty useless feature on the f5 then without topographical maps on it.

On my 920XT I use it to follow courses. Comes in handy when I'm on unfamiliar roads or trails.

I find navigation very usefull on trail run races, saved me from a wrong turn twice so far.

or you can install dwmaps or something like this on yout F5 - search in the appstore.

It's very useful for navigating pre-loaded courses. It will tell you when turns are coming up and if you are off course.

Very useful for hiking and especially for trail races where i don't have time for topo map, just turn by turn navigation with vibrating alarms which my old garmin didn't have.

So you can load (I assume gpx files) onto the watch and follow the route, even though there's no topographical detail on the screen? I've got a couple of ultra's coming up this year, so that feature could be useful if that's how it works!?

Yes it is and it works fairly well - including alerts about change of direction ahead of a turn (I think the alerts are created by the application that builds the route so not all GPX might have this enabled).

Sorry for sounding stupid, but how do you upload gpx files to your f5? I've looked in the manual, but can't see how to!?
