Is this a new feature in 12.0? According to https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=vwAFUMXLsX7V5PfNbBXj58 the course point limit of a Fenix 5 should be 250 but since version 12.0 I seem to be limited to 50 course points on my routes (pretty useless for anything longer than a 10k).
I'm not sure what you mean by "course point". By the ANT SDK profile "record/position_lat" (= trackpoints) is one thing and "course_point/time_stamp" (= warnings or Turns as in TBT (Turns By Turns) is another. Fenix 5x limit for course_points (or TBT) has always been 50 since day 1.
Ours... This is due a very poor manual... Paying attention to your 10k remark made thing you should be talking about Turns (directions) based on a route built upon a map. You see, course_points are more for off map tracks (routes). I'm not sure how many Turns (directions) the watch can have when the route is based in a map neither how Garmin´s ANTSDK profile calls this turns. If course_point as well then it will be 50 also... Someone with more knowledge could step in
Unlimited points per fit file (limited only by storage space available on device)
Ability to add maps unsupported
Connect IQ supported (watch faces, data fields, widgets and apps); Connect IQ apps may fill available internal memory before file limitations are met
fenix 5X only: 500 custom map tiles
Each GPX file can contain a mixture of waypoints, geocaches, routes and tracks. If the GPX file containing a waypoint or geocache is deleted, the waypoint will no longer be available on device.
When utilizing routes, only 50 points can be used for on road navigation.
But when they say: "When utilizing routes, only 50 points can be used for on road navigation." I guess they meant "courses" instead of "routes". This way would be :
When utilizing COURSES , only 50 points can be used for on road navigation.
Thanks again for the clarification. Obviously, it's not a new 'feature.' Hopefully, it will be possible to increase this somewhat arbitrary limit in the future. These directions are useful, for the first 50 one you get...
