This is a mega custom field that was highly recommended on this forum, and which looks excellent to get alot on one single watch face. But, i cannot figure out how to download it once i have edited and customized it (after pressing the "get hardware" button). After you customize an element, you press the "import/export" button, and a dialog appears that gives you the choice Close or Import, and a radio button to choose "Garmin Express" or "local". I am not sure what to do with this. I've taken a few guesses at what the right thing might be. What i get is the field does download to my Fenix 5, but none of my customization to it downloads. So, i just get the defaults that were there before i made any edits. If anybody could give detailed instructions or a link to them, i would appreciate it.
I did use it and the process is relatively simple (I used it with garmin connect on my mobile): - Download/install the app on the watch - create you custom datafield on the web app - click on the export button and choose the way of exporting, either the whole setting in one single long line, either 3 or 4 seperarted lines -> the latter one for garmin connect on mobile - open the gamin connect app on your mobile, and go to the watch/app setting/datafield/DIY/setting - copy/paste the setting line the setting 3 or 4 boxes - synchronize you watch and it should be done.
Do you press the "download" button before or after you press the "Get the hardware" button?
After pressing "Get the Hardware" and a new window opens, you make changes in some of the "Display Elements", say. As a particular Display Element is highlighted, i press the "Import/Export" button. Then, a dialog comes up. There are three text boxes that contain content that is just dense letters and symbols. At the bottom it has two buttons that say "Import" and "Close". And, next to those buttons, a radio button choice between "Garmin Connect" and "Local". What do i do with that dialog? Which radio button do i select and which button do i press? Do i have to repeat an "Import/export" step for every "display element"?
In Garmin connect, if i press settings (...) for that field, a dialog comes up that has 4 text boxes, each called "Definition", and then 3 more text boxes, "Target Pace", "Milestones", and "Power Zones". Of the "Definition" text boxes, by default the first three seem to have some content, while the 4th is empty. I am not sure what to paste there, and how it relates to the dialog that appears each time I press the "Import/Export" button.
If it is possible to give a real "cookbook", step by step, from beginning to end, example of how to go through this to end up with the customized Field on the Fenix, i would appreciate it.
