Widgets Order

Hello everyone :)

It's been a while now that the watch alone has been changing the order of my widgets.
I am regularly forced to rearrange this order manually.

The last time is during the v12 update in the night.
In the early morning I got the message "update 12.0 done" and my widgets were again in disorder.

This is not related to my copy specifically since Garmin just exchanged it with me and I have exactly the same problem.

There is no way to save this order to re-import it in case of an unexpected change?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • I'm having a widget order problem as well. I want the Weather widget to be first but even though it shows up as the first widget in GC, it appears last on the watch itself. I just tested this by uninstalling all my widgets in GC and synching my watch. I then installed the Weather widget first followed by the Heart Rate widget, did a re-synch and the Heart Rate widget now shows up first on the watch. I tried re-ordering them in GC and on the watch but I've had no luck. I'm on v12 but it's been like that for awhile...at least for me anyway.
  • I had to learn the hard way with this. I’ve found that when you use GE or GCM to set up/reorder your widgets, that eventually it can not only screw up the order but also set it back to default or stock widgets (happened on different phones and watches). I had talked to support and they had no idea as they had never heard that before. So I tried something new.

I decided to install the widgets manually and reorder them straight on the watch, no phone or computer intervention. I’ve found that thus far, this trick worked. See I’ve had the same thing happen to my TC and before I returned it, the 5x+. I sold my Garmin Descent Mk1, I found that GCM were changing my settings (vibration and smart alerts off) even though they were properly set up in the app.

So try doing the download/removal/reordering right on the watch itself.

You either end of the widget loop by pressing the Up or the Down buttons. So if it appears last while pressing the Up button, it will appear first by pressing the Down button.

They are lying! I've had this exact issue the moment I downloaded the beta 8.99 for my 935 back in May. This is happening not only for some with the Fenix watches, but the 935, 735, 645 and VA3 as well. My case has been open for months and roughly every 3 weeks I get an email from Garmin asking if the problem is still there. Support is also lying to me by saying I'm the only one with this issue. A few months ago I sent support a copy of my Garmin folder with my widgets set properly and an additional copy of my folder minutes later after I synced with Express and everything was rearranged again. I also sent support 7 different forum links showing them this is not an isolated issue with just my watch. A simple forum search of "widgets rearranged" or "widget order" shows there are many more than the 7 links I sent. I was told the engineers don't look at the forum. I guess if they refuse to read about the problem, they can pretend it doesn't exist. Anyway, please keep reporting the issue and make sure to include my case reference ID 12999947K1, so they can no longer tell you that they've never heard of this problem and maybe something will get escalated.

    Ah !...

This is the first time I've updated and it doesn't mess up my widgets, I'm crossing my fingers :D

The way I can 100% trigger a screwup of the widget order is to add/remove an app. GCM then messes up the widget order which will get synced over

This had been a problem for me since May. Support requested a file from Garmin Express on January 19th. I updated to the latest version of Express and deleted several apps from my 935. Since then the problem is gone. No firmware update or factory restore. This tells me either the Garmin Express update or the deletion of a corrupt app was the solution. At first I was leaning towards a corrupt app as the problem, but after PM'ing another user I think it may have been the updated Express that fixed it. Did you happen to update Express prior to updating to FW 12.30?

    Hello everyone :)
    No more problems.
Is it since the update of Garmin Express, yes, it's quite possible.
Unfortunately I updated GE and the watch at the same time so it's impossible to know which one fixed the problem, maybe both ;)
    Thank you for your participation.
