Navigation not working properly since update 12.0

I use an OSM routable map. I select a point to navigate to and it routes me perfectly. The map screen has a field with distance to next and and as I get close to a turn, the watch vibrates and indicates which way I should turn. If i did it right, the distance to next value reduces. Really nice and really really useful!

Yesterday I recieved the 12.0 update and the above has stopped working. I still see the route on the map, the turn by turn instructions are correct, but the distance to next field always shows '0'.

I tried a factory reset and still have the same problem. I travel a lot and love this feature especially when paired with IQ Map Reciever and its annoying the hell out of me. I am pretty sure its teh update as they say they i'mproved' waypoint navigation. I guess they forgot to test it.

So my questions are :

1. Anyone else having this issue?

2. Is there a solution?

3. Can i revert to 11.0 safely?

I see the same thing both in POI or Around Me navigating.

I can't answer your first two questions but there is a way to revert if you'd like to, however your watch will be reset to factory default in the process, so keep that in mind. If you download the most recent beta software there is a file there to revert your firmware. From the beta instructions:

If you would like to revert to the last public release software, drop the gupdate.gcd file, found in the System_Backdate_v1100 folder, into the \GARMIN folder of the device.
NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

If you do decide to do this, you'll want to make sure to disable auto update in the settings and then also avoid syncing using Garmin Express on a PC since that seems to force the update regardless of what the auto update setting is (syncing via the mobile app won't do this as long as the auto update setting is off).

I don't see 'Dist Rem' as always 0 when I do this using a routable map, using navigation as part of an activity. Looks like it is working for me. (I am suspicious of the elevation profile that it show for the route though. I think that is still broken...)

I suspect OP use 'use map' as navigation method. Do you use 'follow course?

I'm interested to know if both navigation methods are affected and cant test it at the moment.

The Fenix 5 Plus had this bug for a few beta firmware versions, but it was solved approx. 1 month ago.

So apparently, someone at Garmin has lifted code from the 5+ to the 5X, but didn't take the latest bug-fixed version?

Hi, thanks for all the feedback. I reverted to 11.00 and turned auto update off and all is well again.Thanks PaulDN81! I will wait for an update that fixes this. For info I had the problem with 'use map' and 'follow course' What was weird was a couple of days ago after playing with a course I created with basecamp it all started working again the next day it stopped! No idea why.

I have this issue in software version 12 when navigating to a point (saved location), a route is calculated and displayed on the map following streets, and the distance remaining to destination field is calculated at first but after following the route it stays the same, if I stop navigation and select the saved location again, distance remaining is updated from my current location, but even when I reach the destination the value stays the same as when I started navigating. Navigating a Course looks ok, distance remaining keeps decreasing while I move. Garmin Support sent me a seemingly generic response prompting me to master reset the device, and I noticed the beta version was rolled back from 12.51 to 12.21, anyone tried navigation to saved location with working distance to next / distance to destination with version 12.21?
