Indoor training -no training status

I am training indoors (treadmill, indoor bike, strength). I can see increase in training load, but it shows no training status. The watch shows message "run outdoors with heartrate twice to see your status". It is cold outside to run to see status. Is it a bug, or you must train outdoots to see it?
During summer outdoor activities havent got such issue. Having watch about a year

You must run outdoors as the watch says.
Training status is calculated using VO2max. VO2max is calculated when running outdoors using GPS data. VO2max is not calculated indoors.

Training status uses VO2max as an indicator of whether you are improving, stagnating or regressing.

For running, I believe you must train outdoors as VO2max is calculated from the relationship between your speed and HR.

Indoor cycling should generate at least cycling VO2max, as long as your bike/trainer can transmit power data to the watch.
