[New Fenix purchaser] I have a healthrider, a type of aerobic exercise machine. Of course there is no pre-set activity built into the Fenix for this. So, i see that can create a new activity by copying an existing activity. Does it matter what activity i copy? What is taken from the copied activity? Is it just the screens that you view for the activity? Or is some specific technology pertaining to making measurements in the particular copied activity, also copied? If that is so, what would be the best activity to copy from for healthrider (or perhaps in general, "aerobic exercise machine")? What i'd like to measure during this activity is time, calories burned, time in HR zones, TE. Will this custom, non built-in activity also contribute to [correct] computation of my VO2, etc? Any other thoughts on how creating new custom activities works out? Thanks much!
It copies not just the data screens, but all the other settings (eg. GPS on or off) as well. If you copy the Run Indoor, or Bike Indoor apps, it will add those activities to your running or cycling statistics. I'd recommend copying the "Other" category as bringing over the minimum other settings.
Any activity with HR data will generate calories, time in zone and TE. Only Running outside or Cycling with a power meter will generate a VO2 Max figure, but once you have a VO2Max figure, any activity with HR data will contribute to Training Load
Thanks for the clarification. Will be interesting to see what kind of numbers it spits back for activities that it has not been specifically programmed for!
