  • Since upgrading to this Beta, my Wrist Heart Rate monitor has become very patchy with dropouts and datagaps on the trend. Prior to the upgrade it was very consistent.

Is is anyone else seeing this behaviour?

I noticed this the other day. Sunday was really bad which made me go through the last few weeks of history. I did see a drop of connectivity since the Beta, some days are better than others, and when it drops, it looks like several minutes data loss.

Usually I am the first total a beta version, but based on this, I will be skipping this one. Please notify the beta team of this issue apart from the forum. I have been having quite a bit of trouble with my F5 tracking abrupt changes in heart rate like interval training and hockey. It just cannot keep up! Granted my ticker is a little nuts as this morning I had a resting HR of 41, and I felt fine apart from being quite tired from staying up too late after hockey. If I stop and start the activity, it can find my heart rate, otherwise it gets "stuck" at 1/2 rate if it skips on by.

I should note that OHR was the one thing that worked very well on my old VA3, it never missed a workout like hockey. It tracked well.
  • I ran a half marathon over the weekend with this new beta and also had heart rate lock issues, but a bit different.

While I was waiting for the race to start (which kept getting delayed), I would open the Run activity and wait for GPS and HRM locks. It would lock on my heart rate, then seemed to lose it after a few minutes if I didn't start the activity. I was able to repeat this multiple times. I had to get the timing just right to make sure I started the activity before it lost the heart rate again. It was fine for the duration of the race, though. The temperature was also cold outside and may have had something to do with it. I haven't tried to reproduce it since.
  • Had some wordw behavior on a ride yesterday: I was scrolling through data screens and came to a black page. I went into settings to remove it and noticed that it claimed "0 fields." About that time the watch reset itself. After I finished the ride I was abou to go in and change the screen.

I haven't used this particular activity in a while so I don't know if this is related to the beer or not, but thought I would report it just in case.
  • Exported from Endomondo some workouts (copy / paste to watch), made exercises, but unable to upload results thru Garmin Connect or Express. Connect doesn't give any error, but Express says that files are not correct. Although I can see run results on watch. And it uploads some other types of workouts, like inside rowing. Any ideas what could be wrong that running workout result not uploading to Garmin Connect?
  • WOW, is total elevation really fixed? i wrote a lot about things i did not like about the software of the fenix, so i think i should also write about good things.

with this beta my mountain bike tour today was the absolute first, where the total elevation seems to be quite right. before and in every fw my total elevation was more than -30% from the gps elevation. my result today was 605 meters. corrected in GC online was 608 - wow! in runtastic it war 670 meters. runtastic is always quite high and even there it was only about -10%, which is ok for barometric elevation compared to gps elevation. today it is the first time i am really happy about the results. for me this beta is the best fw so far. i will keep it for a while, because it can't become much better. i am afraid this might change.
  • Hello. I noticed that after update from 11.00 to 11.56 the pace have a 15 - 20 seconds error, I checked it with other devices and my Garmin Fenix 5 displays 15 to 20 seconds less then reality. Did someone have this issue?
  • This Beta works very well for me. The watch doesn’t freeze after a BT sync anymore, doesn’t lose BT connection to the phone ever, everything works again as it should and I don’t remember my watch being this stable in a very long time.
  • Fenix 5s with iphoneX.
Explore fails on sync in both v11 and v11.56 after several minutes of transfer. See attached:

I deleted all 16 .FIT files in the activities folder of the device. There were probably several thousand points.
I then resync and it works.

I have a seemingly unrelated issue that I am working with support on but is encapsulated here
    https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-t...ecific-workout

I mention it because the device/app software appears frail when there is a lot of stored data. Is there some way to autodelete stuff? If not, ill write a script to clean old activities files. Are there other files/directories that need to be pruned?

Is everyone having problems with heart rate dropouts with the built-in sensor? I would like to give this beta a try, but am afraid of inheriting this problem so I haven't yet. I am curious to see if this has a positive change on the ability for the F5 to pick up abrupt rises in heart rate during intense workouts.
