False Training Load

I've made 3 run in four days (37km), but my "Training Load" continues to fall.
It's now (336) and "Current Status" shows peaking.
Does anyone encountered the same problem?

  • From the screenshot, I can see a couple of reasons:

    1. Your VO2Max has increased over that period. A higher VO2Max will give you a lower Training Load figure for the same run at the same pace.
    2. Training Load is for a rolling 7 days, with workouts from 7 days ago dropping out at midnight. The Training Load graph shows a sharp spike about a week ago (presumably a hard run?) - the decrease in TL as this drops out of the 7 day window would account for this.

    Thank you for the answer!
But I feel that my athletic condition is not as good as the numbers shows it.
I think my VO2 number rose because my HRM-TRI strap broke and during the last three runs I used only wrist measurement which shows a pulse slightly lower than it actually is.
I'm running a year round with a constant mileage and such a combination of Training load, Current status and VO2 seems to me incorrect.

I have not made any workouts for 16 days now, but the VO2 reading is still rising (VO2 - 53). I wonder if it's normal?
  • 53 is the same as the VO2Max posted in your screenshot dated 31 Oct. It won't change until you post a new run.

To be honest, I wouldn’t put to much weight in Garmin’s training status. Training Peaks has a much more accurate stress score from your activities that will give a definitive answer to undertraining, overtraining, and maintaining.
