Help!!!! Is it broken?

Any ideas??

Doing a soft reset (holding power button for 30 sec) does not fix.

Was sitting on couch when a text came in and looked down to vertical lines and the watch got super slow.

Did a soft reset and this shows up. Eventually, the main screen shows up but it's still messed up. Hitting any menu button and the main screen stays overtop.

I can't get into the menus to do a hard reset because I can't see it.

Anyone seen this happen before?

Thanks,

Looks like you’re using a custom watch face. I had the same problem with Actiface. In my case it was a bug in the software that caused this to happen when the custom settings were enabled. The developer has now fixed the issue for me, so there may be a watch face update for you to do too: Garmin Devices>Fenix 5>Activities and app management>watch faces.

If that doesn’t work switch to another watch face on your watch and contact the developer to let them know about the issue.

    edit to add:

Reading your post again, I realised that my issue didn’t affect the accessing of the menus so your problem may be deeper rooted than the watch face itself. Good luck
  • I've seen a few posts here and a youtube video of what I think is the same issue.
I think in all cases the watch needed to be replaced..
I would send a detailed e-mail off to product support....then phone them, and go from there.
    All the best...

    Thank you!

It took some time and effort but I was able to delete all of my watch faces. It seems to have helped a lot as I can now use the watch and it's functioning. However, if I scroll through menu options too fast, it's almost like the CPU gets bogged down and can't keep up. That's when the screen information starts to merge together and become scrambled for a bit.

But deleting the watch face definitely helped!

Once I was able to actually see the screen, I updated the software to version 11. That may have helped but I wanted to try a factory reset also so did a "restore" defaults through the watch menu. However, I noticed that does not re-set the firmware as it's still showing version 11 installed.

What's the process to revert it back to the day I bought it?

    Thanks,

    Jay
  • For that you have to make a firmware downgrade - but that will make no sense.

A factory reset set all settings to “standard” - not the firmware itself. You should always use the last stable one.

In case the problem still persist - go for a claim.

Thanks, yes looks like I will have to make a claim. If I do a full reset it fixes it for a bit but then goes back to the CPU slowing down so much that everything gets scrambled and horizontal lines cut across the screen.
