I have the HRM Run chest strap and it has been rubbing the center of my chest raw. I have had this strap for over a year now, but recently started experiencing this. Is there a better option for a chest strap that is compatible with the fenix 5? I believe the version I have is the latest HRM strap. Any suggestions? Thanks
The other possibility might be that accumulated salts from sweat has made the fabric stiff (and more irritating to the skin). A couple of good soaks in warm water with a mild detergent might help break down this accumulation.
How accurate is the Scosche 24 compared to the Garmin chest strap? I know that the optical sensor on my Fenix 5 is way off during running and riding. Is the scosche more accurate during running and riding? Thanks
The Scosche24 is very accurate in my experience. It probably has a small lag vs. a good chest strap. DCRainmaker has used it quite a bit recently in heart rate accuracy comparisons and you can see its accuracy and the ever so slight lag in his reviews. I sometimes use the Scosche24 in parallel with a Garmin hrm run for fail-safe purposes and the results always match. I don't overlay the files to check every detail. That's just a tad too OCD for me.
I haven't used a 24, but have used a Rhythm+ and that was generally very good - I overlaid it with a chest strap once or twice and it was very close. Difference is it's quite light, on an elastic strap, and further up the arm where there is more blood flow; between that and bouncing around less, the result is way better than the watch-mounted optical HR.
