confused message of exceeding max number of clue points in course

Hi Guys,

In my last ride I've got a message that I was exceeding the max number of clue points (50) by one and that would be cut but the course but the fit file (course) in question has only 35 clue points...
Running 10.51.
I don't know why I was not able to upload the fit file. Garmin forum says "invalid file". Tried .fit and .zip...

Any idea?

Thank you
  • What tool did you use to create your course file? Can you share your file? Then I can have a look into the file.
  • Thanks for your interest.
As I said above, Garmin forum is not allowing me to attach the file...
I'm using a SportTracks plugin called Course and Waypoints.
I'm exchanging some messages with the producer and so far I got a conclusion I'll post here for the good of all.
The tool has a feature that creates "warning turns" but it appears those warnings are in fact "clue points" (or at least Fenix 5x thinks so). By doubling my clue points I'm indeed exceeding the limit of 50.
But, but, but, when uploading the same fit file to RideWithGPS for instance it only shows the original 35. No warning turns.
Question remains : does Garmin Fenix 5x require (and count) "warning turns" as clue points? or the software is generating them in a wrong way?

    Best regards,

If you wish I can send you the file directly.
  • Thought that might be it . The F5 doesn't need advance warnings in the file, it generates then automatically.
  • And apart from the extra course points, that's a good course file. Shame OMB doesn't sell plugins any more, I'd pay for that one.
  • Hi Dom,

Wow! I din't know F5 generates "warnings" automatically! Case solved!!!! this is fantastic.
ST3 Course and Waypoints plugin are really awesome and OMB himself is very responsive person.
I guess we all suffer of lack of documentation from Garmin part...
You with CourseTCX2Fit and OMB with his plug in are simply genius.
90% of the people I talk to ( including myself in a given way) have no idea of what are the differences between a track point, course_point (or clue points) that some call as cue point and "turn warnings".
Knowing that the F5x gives itself a warning for a given course_point I'll have back 50 possible course_points to use.
Would you know which Garmins do the same?

    I really appreciate you help.
    Best regards,
