10.58 Change Log Notes:
  • Fixed an issue where Heart Rate broadcast would stop working after 10 seconds, if returning to the watch face from the Sensors and accessories menu.
  • Fixed an issue where GPS related training options were accessible from certain indoor sports.
  • Fixed an issue where the device could crash when processing malformed activity files.?
  • Fixed an issue where certain settings changes on device were not making it to Garmin Connect as expected.
  • Fixed an issue where the interval pace data field could be dashed out during a Pool Swim activity.

  • Updated and gotten 2.30 gps that wasn't listed on the update. I think it has been pushed through garmin express. Will try tomorrow. Thanks.
  • It is packaged with GPS 2.24, 2.30 comes from Garmin Express
  • Just went for my usual run using 10.58 and GPS 2.30 (GPS+GALILEO) and it just didnt collect map information on my last lap... this has never happened before, since i bought it when it came out. Why every GPS update seems to be worst than the one before?

    On my fenix 5s, this update has broken the floor counting during activities such as walk of hike. Dis anyone notice the issue?

    I noticed this in 10.55 also (crickets!) what I found is that if you continuously gain altitude while walking/hiking, you get credit. If you level out or go slightly downhill during a climb, you do not... so I do get less credit than I am accustomed to. I am assuming the floor counter increment resets as soon as an elevation reading comes through with a downward value, so landings in stairways while swinging an arm or a level area on a trail will reset the 10ft elevation change counter to 0.

    Where it used to be:
    ft: 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,6,7,8,9,10 = 1 floor (note the 5ft in there)
    ctr: 1,2,3,4,5,6,6,6,7,8,9,10 = 1 floor

    Now it is behaving like:
    1,2,3,4,5,6,5,6,7,8,9,10 = 0 floors until, 11,12,13,14,15
    1,2,3,4,5,6,0,1,2,3,4, 5,..........................6, 7, 8, 9, 10 = 1 floor.

    The F5 likely had excessive elevation reading filtering in prior versions which to "smoothed off" that 6->5->6 transition to all 6->6->6-> so it didn't reset the count. Now with a MUCH better elevation meter with better response time (please don't change this!!!) this change in direction slipping through the filtering is now causing stair counts to behave differently and not giving us as much credit.

    I have mentioned this in the last beta thread:
    My driveway is about 105ft from the end at the road to the front of my porch. A steady non-stop walk up the driveway gets me 9-10 floors of credit as expected. If I pause at all on the way up, I get less. I take the dog, now I will only get 3-7 floors, much less credit even though ultimately the same elevation is gained. The dog stops a lot, sniffs, you get the picture. We have 12ft floors at work, and I will only get 1 floor of credit now, and I assume it is due to the landing.

    That is my best guess, and I hope it Helps Garmin update this fun feature so it works better.
  • I don't know if what I'm about to describe is beta weirdness or not, but last night I plugged my watch into the computer and it promptly fell off the desk and disconnected because the charging situation is terrible on this watch. Anyways, I put it back on and let it go for nearly an hour and a half and noticed a few weird things: the watch face was different than the last one I had selected and widgets had re-ordered themselves and even re-installed one I had previously deleted. Additionally, no HR data was recorded after charging. Restarted this morning when I noticed that and recording is back to normal. Granted, this could all be because Garmin Express was in the middle of a sync when the watch fell off the desk, but thought I would at least report the no HR recording since that is definitely weird.
