Notification for every 0.5 miles ?

Newbie question here… What is the best way to have my 5X notify me every 0.5 miles my last lap pace and my average pace for the run so far?

Here is where I am at:
  • Not sure of the data field differences between Lap Pace and Last Lap Pace ?
  • Not sure if I should be using auto lap or distance alert ?
  • Current set-up: Auto Lap turned on = 0.5m. Distance Alert turned off.
  • I get notified via watch face both last lap pace + average page
  • But I only get orally notified of last lap pace.
Thanks for any pointers.
  • Hi! My understanding is as follows, please anyone, correct me if I'm wrong:

I've found more useful to have the average pace for the run to be able to know if I'm off my normal pace or exceeding it, and if exceeding it, if I will be able to keep the pace depending on the distance.

Hope I'm understanding correctly your question but:
    - The difference between Lap Pace and Last Lap Pace is: Lap Pace is the current pace you are running at, while Last Lap Pace is the pace you kept during your last 0.5 miles
    - Regarding the alert, I find it useful to use lap alert, but in my case my F5 is configured in KM with a lap equal to 1Km, so no difference. Since yours is in miles, and a lap is 0.5 miles, I think it will be better to have distance alert, so in a race you know how long have you run so far.
    - Think you should turn on the Distance Alert
    - Notifications via watch face are ok
    - In Garmin Connect Mobile you can change the notifications to: 1) Average Pace 2) Actual Pace 3) Last Lap Pace. The problem is that only one can be selected
You have to go to the "More" Menu (at least in iOS) -> Garmin Devices -> Choose your device -> Device Configuration -> Audio Notifications -> Pace Alerts, and there you will find the three alerts.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards!!!
  • Thanks LeoPac72!

Wow - I don't think I would have looked this far down in the Garmin Connect Mobile to change the audio notifications during a run.

For Android - Menu, Garmin Devices, Fenix 5x, Device Settings, Audio Prompts, and then you can turn on the various audio prompts (power, pace/speed, heart rate).

But I still don't understand the difference between Auto Lap and Distance Alert. :( Won't they both notified me at the same distance specified? (0.5 mile for my example)
  • Hi Xavier4or....I think I'm just guessing since I don't use the Distance Alert, but, I guess that with Distance Alert you set a distance, let's say 6 miles, and since your fenix is considering 1 lap as 0.5 miles, then your 6 miles will be 12 laps. I guess what I'm trying to say (I'm Spanish speaker, so probably not explaining correctly) is if you don't set a distance Alert, you will have to do the math during your run in order to know how much distance you have traveled.

Hope my guess is correct and useful for you...
    regards,
