Unable to sync maps or download some widgets

Hi folks.

Took delivery of my second replacement 5X today and been trying to get it up and running.

There are some map updates available on Garmin Express but they won't sync and an error bar appears saying "There was an error installing the update."

Also, when I try and download some of the widgets and apps I had before, some are reporting I cannot download them as the Fx requires updating, and that I should update the device using Garmin Express.

Are the 2 connected? I'm running Version 10.2 so not sure what else to do short of wiping it clean and sticking it on EBay... getting fed up of Garmin right now!

    Should of said... tried that and got stuck on a boot loop for 2 further resets..
  • The "There was an error installing the update" issue has been present on and off for months if not years, there are several threads on it on here. In some cases it magically starts working for people, others just give up.

    I cannot update the maps on my 5X despite factory resetting it and reinstalling Express on a clean Windows PC. No matter what I do it immediately errors, despite it working with other Garmin devices and usually working with firmware updates. There is sufficient space on the watch but the logs in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Logs\Express just continually errors with the same message.
