Hello i have a big problem with my gps and i dont know how to solve it . Since January i have rma my device 3 times and now i am gonna go for the 4th one but first i want suggestions because i think i found why my gps goes bad . All 3 times that has happened was immediately when i returned from vacation . In all of my activities after i returned from vacation gps is bad .Before going and during gps was perfect. I have tried reset, installing new beta with new gps firmware , deleting epo file, let it soak satellites for 30 minutes nothing fixed it .Here are some examples:
Before: http://prntscr.com/ks4w26
After: http://prntscr.com/ks4vrd
Before: http://prntscr.com/ks4wdv
After: http://prntscr.com/ks4whi

All my runs after i return from vacation are looking the same until garmin fixes it but i cant be left another week without a watch. Any solution is welcomed and sorry if my english is not good

Yes you understood right. In all of my vacations i didnt leave country so timezone didnt change . My watch is in the latest 10.55 beta with gps at 2.24 . I was running 10.00 stable with 4.40 gps before deciding to give beta a try to see if it solves my problem. Epo says its current in the menu. I did not clear gps data because i didnt know how . When i press the light button longer than 15 seconds it turns off is this what it supposed to do ?
When they give me a replacment watch my problem goes away until i leave for vacation then when i return it comes back . Basen on that i am almost 100% that the problem is on the software but i dont understand why

If you look at both the files it looks like in the second file, the ones that are looking crazy. It seems to me that the GPS is trying to "lock on to the roads". This used to be an option on some GPSs back in the day. This is obviously not going to help you but maybe can lead to someone suggesting making a change or something in the options that will make it "not track to roads".

Found it!. Go to Settings scroll down to MAP scroll down to Lock on Road. See if that is on. If it is on then that is the problem.

No Lock on road was disabled so it's not that. While I am in vacation I don't change any setting and I only run same as when I am back. I will see tomorrow if clearing gps data helped and report back

Ok I found out a little more by digging: Go to Settings --- Activities & Apps --- Run --- Run settings --- Map check in there that it is using the Sys settings. If Use Sys. Settings is off you can change the settings there just for the run. Look there and see if Use Sys Settings is ON. I think default is on and if it is it will use the main settings that you checked earlier. If it is OFF then you can change the MAP setting there as well.

Just got back from my run and gps was perfect . Dont know what exaclty fixed it but it was either clearing gps data by pressing the light button or enabling and disabling lock on road both on system settings and on the run activitie . Thank you both very much . I am hoping it stays fixed and not break again

    1. I need grid reference coordinates on my watch for india .
    2. Maps won’t load too , how should I handle it .
    3. Battery life lasts not more than 3 days when connected with Phone .
pls help me with these issues .
  • 1. Settings> System> Format> Pos. Format. I'm not familiar with Indian maps, so you may have to do some research yourself on what map datum you wish to use.
  • Ajcj1416, You have put in three issues into one post on a thread talking about something completely different. I would suggest you repost the last two items in their own threads (as mcalista has kindly pointed you to the solution for 1.) and provide some actual details - you know, things like software version number, settings, what you mean by "maps won't load", etc. This is a user forum so the more information you provide the more likely someone will be able to help you (but read the manual first just in case). I'm not trying to be nasty here (not too much) but read your post and ask yourself how anyone could really help you with the limited information you have provided.
