Fenix 5s crashes on version 10.00 Strength app. Hard reset is only recovery mode.

I have been using the Strength app for ~1yr. It became unusable this week and I had to hard reset the device. The watch displayed a blue triangle logo and was mostly unresponsive. It only happened with no external heart rate.

Same (F5) problem for me this Tuesday. But a soft reset was sufficient. Used rep counting and a BT heart strap. On Friday I also did a strength session, that worked as expected.
  • Adnane: Yes the Strength app crash is similar to what you posted but may not be related to the nav download crash you experienced. I would never, ever, ever, rely on a Garmin or any other consumer electronics as my only nav aid . Garmin consumer products, in particular, do not have the reliability (maybe In-reach) but any device with batteries can fail.

For the Fenix and other watches, I suspect without much hard evidence, that limited memory of the device and mem leaks of apps and/or OS are the issue and are made better or worse in various updates. But I have seen untimely crashes on my Edge 1000 too. In Garmin's defense, it is hard to engineer low volume but sophisticated devices, keep prices in the consumer band, and minimize bugs and hardware issues.
