I'm very dissappointed with Garmin because they are not able to solve the problem and they don't recognize it. Battery consumption is higher with the device turned off than turned on. In 8 hours turned off it can consume 10% while turned on it can require more than 24 hours to consume the same amount. It is the second device that I've received and with the same problem. Anyone else with this problem? Technical support's last answer is that the device is not prepared to be turned on/off and justifies in that way the battery's behavior. Are you kidding me?
I tryed all versions 12.21 12.51 12.31 and still no improvement, best battery life was on 12.00 there i had 5 days..many people have replaced the watch and problem is still there..then failure is in software, must be...
I sent my watch to the service 2 weeks ago, they updated the firmware to version 12.30 and told me that now the problem is solved. I'm waiting for my watch to come back...I'll let you know if the problem is really solved...
I'm pleased to report that fw v.12.30 has resolved this issue for me. I've had this problem with my 5 since I bought it new 3 months ago. Just upgraded from v11 to 12.30 and when I now power off the battery remains at the same level.

Great news, I hope it will be the same for me... Have you already check the real battery life with new FW? What is the discharge rate %/day?
This is still an issue. I've been in flu so I stored Fenix 5 to my bag ~week ago as fully charged and switched off. Today I tried to start it and battery was completely empty.
This is unacceptable. Why in earth it uses batter when switched off?
