WIFI: "Network error --- Try again later" with Fenix 5 Saphire

Hi Everyone!

I have issues with my wifi syncing for a long time.
It worked only when I enabled the bluetooth a few times and now it doesn't work at all.

if it matters - I re-installed windows meanwhile, I installed Garmin Express and added the device.
installed updates (now on v.9.2.0) and configured wifi of course. when I tried to sync I got the error message from the subject.

I tried to remove and add again, to power off and on. I even tried to update wifi from the watch itself. adding the network worked perfectly. sync failed.

any ideas what should I do?
  • Same here ... "Transfer failed" and "Network error" ???.
It worked this morning, but not anymore.

    But Bluetooth sync still works.

Bluetooth sync has always worked for me too.

    After talking with support:
My problem was with the router - my wifi worked in a mixed mode of the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz and the watch knows to work only with 2.4.

I was needed to create a 2.4 isolated network in order to make it work.

I too experience this problem, but with intermittent results. I have fiddled around inside my router trying to find a link and have come up empty handed. I also enable a wifi hotspot with both an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy but the Fenix is unable to find any network at all. Then the next day, or even an hour later, for some unknown reason, it syncs perfectly over my wifi network! I am clueless as to why it works some days and not the next. My good old 920XT never missed a beat with wifi transfer. Very frustrating indeed!
  • Granted the issue was identified years ago, but happened to me  APRIL 2021. I fixed it. Not covered in the manual. But each step I provide are covered in the manual. My condition after a software upgrade was automatically made.

    Steps:

On the watch go into settings> networks> and delete the one (or all of them) you are trying to sync (on;ine owner's manual is clear and will get you there or close enough that your kids can guess the next step)

With the watch on, use your smart phone and the "Garmin Connect APP", not "ConnectIQ", and add a network (this is covered in the manual and you did this originally when you set up the WiFI)

That's it- should work and you're done

My watch could not find any networks even though they were listed with the correct passwords. So by deleting all of the networks, the "smartwatch" was now dumb enough to start looking. It re-found the networks, I entered the password and now I am ready for another software upgrade! :-)
