No..... If you are following a course.....you will need to be in an appropriate activity....with appropriate routing. Usually using follow course ..not usually use map as problems could arise..( rerouting your course.. or hundreds of pins saturating the course)but its up to you.. To just navigate without a particular destination inputted....you can use the map app, and just follow the screen...or if you want to save your gps trace....just use track me.
To Navigate is starting an activity....( Navigation) I think he's asking if he can have a course up on the screen just using something like the map app...?
Could be, Sam. I was just going on my recent trials on my watch of selecting navigate VS selecting navigating from wihtin the hiking activity. In retrospect, it is unclear to me just what is being asked.
I think he is asking how to just display a gps track/course on a map without activating the navigation function of the watch. That way you are able to roam around the displayed track (keeping it for reference only) without getting annoying warnings that you are off course or receive directions how to go back on the track. I am also interested in this question.
What happens if you create a route on a site that do not auto generate course points/directions. (Like all other course creating sites, but GC). Conf watch with setttings- navigation- alerts- off course- off and use any app in 'follow course' mode. And of course no data field on map that show any course info. If you would like more than one alternative, create loops with different paths. Ive not tested it, but do you get any beeps/messages in that configuration?
