  • Make sure you have your regular sleeping hours entered correctly in Garmin Connect.
Also take a closer look at the sleep movement graph. Maybe you'll notice a pattern that could confuse the sleep detection algorithm.
  • I dont have any issue on regular basis, I dont change my sleep times, dnd times and other things.
    But this happens regularly, randomly.

    [h=3]WHAT IS ADVANCED SLEEP MONITORING?[/h]
Advanced Sleep Monitoring (ASM) is a feature found on newer Garmin wearables that feature an optical heart rate sensor. With ASM users will have the ability to track their sleep statistics in Garmin Connect when wearing the the device while sleeping. [h=3]WHAT IS NEW ABOUT ADVANCED SLEEP MONITORING?[/h]
Garmin is introducing sleep cycles that will provide the following levels when sleeping

Light Sleep: Eye movements and muscle activity begin to slow down as the body prepares for deep sleep.

Deep Sleep: Eye and muscle movements stop completely. Heart rate and breathing slow down. This stage can be referred to as restoration mode, where the body will recover, building bone and muscle, and boosting your immune system.

REM Sleep: Also referred to as the dream stage, brain activity is almost as active as when you are awake. REM sleep is important for forming memories and processing information. [h=3]HOW DOES THIS FEATURE WORK?[/h]
By leveraging the optical heart rate sensor on the device, we can now measure Heart Rate Variability (the time measured between each heart beat) which combined with the accelerometer allows us to determine when you fall asleep, when you wake up, and what level of sleep you are in. [h=3]WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS FEATURE?[/h]
Requirements to get advanced sleep monitoring include the following:
    • Device must be up to date on software. You can use Garmin Express to manually check for and install any available updates.
    • Garmin Connect Mobile must be up to date. Use your app store to check and install any available updates.
    • ***********Device must be worn at least two hours before bedtime. ***********
    • Optical heart rate sensor must be enabled while sleeping
    • If you have more than one device, you must wear the one marked as your preferred activity tracker to bed.

[h=3]HOW WILL SLEEP LOOK DIFFERENT IN GARMIN CONNECT?[/h]
Sleep details in Garmin Connect will for the most part look the same. You will notice the different sleep levels include REM broken down for the previous night's sleep.

[h=3]WHY AM I NOT SEEING AS MUCH DEEP SLEEP AS I HAD BEFORE THIS UPDATE?[/h]
Our enhanced measurements, now leveraging heart rate, heart rate variability, and movement, provide more accurate readings. The amount of deep sleep registered can also depend on your age. As you age, most users will see less deep sleep, more time awake after falling asleep, and a slight decrease in REM Sleep. Some users may not see any deep sleep.

Sleep patterns can vary widely between individuals and in some cases for the same person when comparing nights. There are numerous factors that can impact sleep including age, environment, time zone changes, sleep history from previous nights, use of prescription drugs, alcohol consumption, and possible sleep disorders such as insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea.
