  • Can anyone link me to the 10.51 beta? Can't find the download link anymore. It looks like the system and display both have changes. I too would like to know what these changes are.

You sir are my hero! Now to see if I can sucker one of my co-workers into letting me see if the Descent software will install on a 5x. ;)

Seriously though, this should be a big help for all of us looking for that “one software version” that worked best for our needs.

Which beta are you looking for?

I have the last few as well, if you need a particular one for the 5X.
  • Few words about battery life... Every time new version is released I can read "battery life better" or "battery life worse" or "tragic" or "superb". As far as I know electronics - battery level is estimated using data from previous sessions (voltage:level map). I think that each update invalidates sessions made with previous firmware. It makes sense but also makes first few days completly uncomparable.

So after each update you should wait 3 or 4 times to fully discharge and charge again. And compare…

I have been trying almost every released beta and I haven't seen any major difference in battery consumption.

I loaded v.10.52 beta and all seems well... Over 1.5 hrs and I'm still at 100% charge. The key in my opinion is to use Garmin apps/faces only if you want the long batt life.

That might be an easy out, but previously I didn't need to use a Garmin face for good battery life.

Im now down 7% in 15 hrs, so it has slowed. I will see how the next 24 go.
  • EDIT 2: 6% battery drain over a 59 minute bike ride. Not great at all.

That's a little over 16 hours GPS time.
    not really bad is it?

Yeah.. I don't know about that. Is the watch face active during activity? Mine isn't. I get most drain during activity. Not sure how that relates to the watch face.

Just an observation... it seems anytime I load a non-Garmin face the battery drains a bit quicker especially if there's data being updated by the second on the face such as HR or second markers. I cannot confirm, but it might be worth a try for some folks. Cheers!
  • Any idea how many beta versions we're still getting before getting actual new sw? Are official sw releases made periodically or whenever beta is mature enough?

For what i have read the watchfaces that are on the watch itself (not IQ watchface) have a different CPU where the other watchfaces use the main CPU and therefor are more battery intens
