Watch face keeps changing on its own??

Just noticed today but the watch face keeps changing on its own. I can’t check what face it is normally but digital and shows HR steps and distance along with goal meter. It will change so the 3 bubbles with the extra data in it are blank and then if I switch screens at all (up/down) the face changes back to factory analog clock hands. I can get it back by syncing with the app on my phone and selecting the face again.

if I do not have the app open and I try to select the watch face it will only show IQ! On the watch face select screen

is it broken? Or what???

you are talking about watch face developed by you?
It looks like missing some check for “null” for some dynamic data.

If this watch face developed not by you, just contact developer, describe problem and send log from your device /Garmin/App/Log.

Yeah developed by someone else. The face has works without issue for a number of weeks until today.

So this issue seems to be affecting all watch faces I have DL'ed from Connect.....

I have 3 DL'ed and all 3 of them are just showing IQ!

Has anyone seen this before?

I have similar observations, but it happens only when I stop an app, e.g. when I stop a run, etc. If I have a 3rd party watch face as the default, on exit it would end up with either my custom watch face that I made using Face It or one of those watch faces that comes with the watch, however this behavior does NOT happen 100% of the time, just some times. There is no consistency.

I dug deeper and found that it may be an issue with the way it syncs. There was a thread a year ago about the three ways the Fenix syncs is WIFI, through Garmin express on PC and through the mobile app sync.

There is contention between these methods.

I had had just reinstalled my OS on my PC and hooked up my Fenix before I went on vacation. I’m assume that caused this contention.

I usually get it after I take it off charge - switches to a custom face. Appears to be last one in the list every time. Have to flip it back (to default) because it uses a lot more power on current builds!
